About Me

IMG_9979.JPG

I am a New York City Makeup Artist, with a Bachelor's degree in Media Communications. Growing up, I remember my mornings filled with AquaNet, the sounds of blow dryers, and lipstick rolling off the beauty counter that laid out in front of me. This was the 4-hour routine my sister had before displaying herself to the world. With the world bearing so much criticism, I started seeing what makeup can do to change the emotions of a single human being. I started to experiment with White Out, painting my fingernails to match the ad of a Revlon commercial. I would then swift myself to the beauty counter to find tiny squares of what I thought were “paints.” Referring to what I saw my sister do, I used the best tools (my tiny hands) to make my first eye look. When I started to put the pieces together, it was not that my sister was applying makeup for the world, it was that she was the world. It was the moments she stared back at herself that she knew who she was. These moments we take to apply skincare/makeup are the moments we must not take for granted, as they are the small pieces that help us reflect and find healing. Makeup is not about masking your features, but instead about enhancing them and recognizing that we can certainly do what we were born to do, if we do the work.
